Web documentary:
“The smile at Auschwitz: an investigation”
Available on france24.com

On France's national day of remembrance for the victims of deportation on April 25, France 24 publishes a new webd ocumentary: “The smile at Auschwitz: an investigation”.

While researching the war in her native Brittany, France 24’s journalist Stéphanie Trouillard chanced upon a striking photo of a young deportee known as Lisette. The image shows the teenage girl at Auschwitz, smiling, as if she is challenging her executioners in some way. Her show of defiance in one of the darkest places in human history inspired Stéphanie to find out who Lisette was, what she did and what happened to her.

The web documentary is also available in French on france24.com

France 24’s journalist Stéphanie Trouillard has specialised for years in the history of the Second World War. Four years after the release of her award-winning web documentary “‘If I ever come back’: A French schoolgirl's letters from the Holocaust”, she publishes a new investigation into this tragic era, coinciding with France's national day of remembrance for the victims of deportation.
